If you use the three R’s  (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) you will be helping the environment and making a difference. The triangle above represents the 3 R’s.

I am a fourth grade student who is learning about the effects of climate change.

I learned that pollution is clogging the holes that allows heat to bounce back toward the sun so heat is getting trapped in Earth causing a climate change. Climate changes are effecting everyone and everything. For example, polar ice caps are melting causing many animals to become endangered. Also, I learned that the greenhouse affect is when gasses from our atmosphere traps heat from the sun keeping the Earth warm.

My favorite part of doing the go green project was when we created posters to hang around the area. I liked that because our whole class did at least something on it and everyone can see them! That is why I enjoyed this project so much!

Some Ways You Can Help:

~ Use compact fluorescent light bulbs.

~ Unplug any items that use electricity when not in use.

~ Use the 3 R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

~ Instead of destroying any trees, PLANT ONE!

More trees means more oxygen in the air!

~ Turn off all lights when not in use. That will help save energy.

~ Don’t leave the water running while you are brushing your teeth.

~ Take one minute off of your shower. That will help conserve water.

Above is the greenhouse effect. The greenhouse effect is when Earth’s sunlight is getting trapped on Earth because the atmosphere is getting thicker. All of this is caused because of pollution. Pollution can be given off from factories, transportation, and many other reasons. You can reduce the amount of CO2 in the air bye doing a few simple tasks. For example, if everyone took 1 minute off their shower, we would conserve more water than the world normally does by taking a 10 minute shower. Also, if everyone used one less napkin a day, we would save a LOT of trees.

Over to the left is a compact florescent light bulb. These light bulbs reduce energy and last for as little as five years. Compact fluorescent light bulbs may be a little more expensive, but they are much better for the environment.

Right below is a picture of a factory and the sun’s rays bouncing back to Earth once they hit the surface. If too much of the sun’s rays stay trapped on Earth it will get even warmer than it is now. Also, climate change doesn't just change the climate. It harms any living things. Also, deforestation is occurring. When deforestation is happening a lot of animals lose their homes. All of the facts I listed above are factors that cause global warming.

This page will tell you what we believe global warming  and what is happening because of it. I hope you learn something about our Earth and how important it is to recycle.
