The grading scale for our school district is as follows:

A 100 – 94%
B 93 – 86%
C 85 – 76%
D 75 – 70%
F 69 – 0%

Why Homework is Assigned: The main goal of any homework assignment is to reinforce the academic skills being taught in class.  Students should never feel overwhelmed with homework assignments due to the amount of in-class time they will have available to work on them.  Students learn responsibility by completing homework assignments and submitting them when they are due.

When I Assign Homework: Homework is assigned each day of the week.  Students will be expected to read for twenty minutes for five days of the week.  I will give plenty of notice for students to prepare for tests.

Late Work/Incomplete Work: If a student does not submit an assignment on time, he/she will receive a homework notice that will need to be signed by a parent and returned with the homework assignment the following day.  If the assignment is not returned the following day with the homework notice, the student will receive a red notice with a lunch detention.  The first day an assignment is late 10 percentage points will be deducted from the final grade.  If an assignment is more than one day late, 20 percentage points will be deducted from the final grade.  All assignments will be completed no matter how many days they are late.

Absences: Students are responsible for making up all assigned work on days that they are absent from class.  When students return to school they will be given all of the work they missed unless a parent has already picked it up.  Students will have the same number of days that they were absent to complete the work.  Assignments should be turned in as soon as possible.  Regular attendance is strongly encouraged.  It is often difficult for students to catch up if they are frequently absent as much of our work is done in class.
