Horizontal Advancement on Salary Schedule/Course Request

Horizontal Advancement on the Salary Schedule

  1. All coursework must be preapproved by the Superintendent or designee.
  2. Credits for placement on the compensation schedule shall be for graduate level course work, must be in the field of education or Minooka 201 teacher-content area and must be courses that will be helpful to a teacher's ability to teach and/or provide the services appropriate to a role within the organization.
  3. Unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent or designee, courses and/or programs that are self-paced will not be considered for placement or advancement on the salary schedule.
  4. Courses not approved for reimbursement do not qualify for Lane Advancement.
  5. All courses, including on-line courses, used for lane advancement must be taken at a college or university accredited by a regional accreditation association (i.e., North Central Accreditation Association) and must be approved in the sole discretion of the Superintendent or designee prior to the teacher's enrollment. Course approval forms developed by the administration will be used for this purpose.
  6. Credits earned during summer term(s) will be applicable to the compensation schedule if the requirements of Section A are met.
  7. It shall be the responsibility of the teacher to notify the Superintendent or designee, in writing, of any change in lane placement status by August 31, or January 31, of that school term.
  8. Further, a grade card must be submitted no later than September 30, or February 28, for compensation to begin, retroactive to the beginning of the semester, and an official transcript must be received by the District prior to October 31, or March 31, in order to continue such compensation.
  9. If the official transcript is not received, all compensation paid shall be deducted from the teacher's pay and no other payment shall be made for that course.
  10. All courses taken under this section must be satisfactorily completed by the teacher.

Course Request Procedure:

  1. Before enrolling, teacher submits a course they would like to take and be reimbursed.
  2. District reviews course to determine if meets all criteria.
  3. Course is approved or denied.
