1 : 1 Program

Minooka CCSD 201's 1 : 1 (one-to-one) program gives students in grades 5-8 access to a Chromebook to use each day. In grades 6-8, students are also allowed to take those devices home for further support in the learning process outside the classroom. Giving students access to this 1 : 1 program prepared them for success in a technology-driven learning and working environment.

1 : 1 Program Features

  • Students work through the Minooka CCSD 201's domain, maintaining the same filter safeguards throughout the district
  • Provides a similar work environment students would see in the future, such as college or employment.
  • The use of Google Drive allows files to be accessed from anywhere there is an Internet connection with no additional software.
  • Allows for a more collaborative environment with teachers and classmates.

Using Your Chromebook at Home

Using the Chromebook:

  • Once the Chromebook is connected to your home network, students can login to the Chromebook as they would at school.
  • After your student has logged in successfully, there is a tab that pops up entitled “Your device is registered”. Clicking on this tab will show you how long the Chromebook will be connected to our content filter (you will have 8 hours from when you first see it). You will know that the timer has expired if you cannot connect to any web pages.
  • After the time expires or if the tab never showed up, you will be required to re-authenticate again by visiting the content filter’s web page.  If you have closed this down, simply power down the Chromebook and then power it back on.
    • You can also navigate back to the original tab by clicking on min201.org bookmarks on the bookmarks toolbar. If the bookmark bar isn’t there, you can enable it by clicking the  in the top right corner, and going to bookmarks. (Or you can press Ctrl+Shift+B).

My child's Chromebook won't connect to the internet at my house?

  • After making sure your child's chromebook is connected to your home WiFi, have the student restart the chromebook. Sometimes that fixes an issue some people are having with the chromebook tunneling back to Minooka's firewall.

Home WiFi Discounts?

  • You may qualify if you are eligible for public assistance programs such as the National School Lunch Program, Comcast and AT&T have programs for offering reduced rate internet. Please note, acceptance decisions are 100% controlled by Comcast or AT&T. Visit their websites for more information.

How do you prevent cyberbullying?

  • Student's google drives (and documents) are scanned for vulgar or offensive languages automatically and alert notifications are sent to building administration for further review.
  • Teachers are incorporating more digitial citizenship mini-lessons into their courses.

What repair costs are associated with the 1:1 program?

  • Upon the second or third offense, parents will be billed for replacement parts. Most Chromebook parts cost between $20 and $50. For a full list, click here.
