Summer break is finally here! While it’s a well-deserved time for students to recharge, learning doesn’t stop when school doors close, and it doesn't need a desk to be powerful.

Welcome to Summer Smarts, an way of helping families find the math, literacy, and science already hiding inside your favorite summer activitie. There are no worksheets, no assignments, and zero pressure. We’re simply shifting perspective to highlight real-world learning everywhere. Whether you’re at a local baseball game, on a road trip, or watching the World Cup, here are some sneaky ways to incorporate some brain power with your kids!

Summer Smarts: The World Cup

The World Cup takes place on American soil for the first time since 1994! There are so many wonderful opportunities to embed learning into watching The Beautiful Game, no matter the age of your student!

Preschool

Elementary Schools (Grades K-4)

The Action: Put a map or a globe near the TV. When two countries play (e.g., USA vs. Paraguay), have your student find both countries on the map. You can also explore time zones!
