Staff Development Tracks – Professional Practice

  • Topic 1: Overview of Danielson Framework and Tool for Evaluation
    • Description: Session(s) will address the Danielson Framework: Overview of Domains, Evidence Collection, Evaluation Process, etc.
    • Objective(s): Participants will gain familiarity and exposure to the Danielson Rubric and the evaluation process.
  • Topic 2: Domain I – Planning and Preparation
    • Description: Session(s) will provide an in depth analysis of Domain 1 of the Danielson Rubric and the applicable components. Additionally, session(s) will provide resources regarding lesson preparation and implementation and integration of learning targets.
    • Objective(s): Participants will analyze components of Domain 1, and share and obtain resources to assist in the planning and preparation of lessons and learning objectives as they relate to Domain 1 of the Danielson Rubric.
  • Topic 3: Creating a Positive Classroom Environment
    • Description: Session(s) will provide an in depth analysis of Domain 2 of the Danielson Rubric and the applicable components. Specifically, topics will focus on establishing an environment of respect and a learning-centered culture.
    • Objective(s): Participants will obtain and share various techniques to establish a positive classroom environment, with a focus on relationship building and maintaining a learning-centered culture.
  • Topic 4: Student engagement & Questioning to Elicit Higher Order Thinking
    • Description: Session(s) will discuss various techniques to engage students, assess student engagement, and utilize questioning to elicit higher order thinking.
    • Objective(s): Participants will be able to utilize various techniques to increase and monitor student engagement, as well as design questioning in their lessons to ensure they will have intellectually engaged students.
  • Topic 5: Professional Responsibilities
    • Description: Session(s) will analyze Domain 4 of the Danielson Rubric, with a specific focus on Professional Responsibilities and Collaboration.
    • Objective(s): Participant(s) will analyze and share means to participate in their professional community, as well as analyze the role of Professional Growth in the Danielson Rubric.
  • Topic 6: Student Growth Objectives Process
    • Description: Session(s) will discuss the Student Growth Objective process including: how to choose an appropriate assessment, how to appropriate group students, means for tracking progress, etc.
    • Objective(s): Participants will be able to design and monitor assessments and data for the purpose of the Student Growth Objective process
