Minooka CCSD 201 Students and Families,

On Thursday, October 1st the Board of Education will hold a virtual special board meeting at 6:30 PM to discuss and act on a recommendation to reopen our schools for in person learning in the second quarter, which begins on October 19th. Families will have the option of choosing between two models for their students' instruction:

  • Hybrid learning - students attend school for in person learning for portions of their week as well as accessing remote instruction for the remainder of the school week, or
  • Remote Instruction - students will access all instruction remotely. Instruction will be a mix of synchronous and asynchronous activities.

To allow for as much social distancing as we can achieve in our buildings, the recommended hybrid model will bring students back on a split shift schedule, with half of the students coming in on Monday and Tuesday for in person instruction, Wednesday being full remote for all, and the second half of students coming on Thursday and Friday for their in person learning. The recommended hybrid model will begin with three hours of in person instruction each day, increasing to four hours per day on November 16, 2020. Further details will be discussed with the Board on Thursday, October 1st.

To assist our school buildings as they continue to plan and prepare for students to return, we are asking each family to indicate their choice for second quarter instruction and if they intend to utilize our transportation service. Please login to Powerschool and make your selection by Friday, October 2nd. A separate email with specific instructions will follow.

Sincerely,

Kristopher P. Monn, Ed.D.
